Serpent Records is proud to announce the upcoming split release with Kentucky two piece doom-mongers OLD ONE, and Black Pyramid.
The split will feature two exclusive brand new songs from each band. The BLACK PYRAMID tracks are being mixed by engineer Justin Pizzoferratu (WITCH, DINOSAUR JR.), and the entire vinyl will be mastered by Matt Washburn (MASTODON, ARTIMUS PYLEDRIVER, STARCHILD).
The two BLACK PYRAMID studio tracks have allowed the band to experiment and broaden their sound in terms of both arrangement and production. The epic "Illumination" features the band mixing their trademark downtuned doom sound with organ driven psychedelia, while "Warswine" showcases their metal gallop unexpectedly morphing into more bluesy territories.
Old One’s songs see a continuation of the sound that won their debut album praise earlier this year. The roaring bass, wild drums, droning organ, and howled vocals offer an introduction to listeners who missed Old One’s February release, and a second meeting for those who did not. “Over the Hill” is a frantic, witch-burning romp, while its follow-up, “Hexed,” is a somber, hypnotic dirge that comes to a churning end. Dark, heavy, trance-inducing grooves abound.

For anyone who's interested in the workings of the 'horse, I thought I'd provide a little update. We've been working hard over the last few months to complete the next album instrumentally and we're now 95% of the way there. Now it's time to tie up loose ends and work on the vocals. Time-wise we're very close to being able to consolidate it all for recording but then the next barrier is money. Currently we don't have the finances to record and we don't see that changing any time soon so, frustratingly, where in the past we've just taken ages to write it's money this time that's holding us back (yes, two years between releases is fast for us). It'll happen, we just have no idea when.

In other news some of us are as ever branching out. John has been playing with Queen of Swords http://www.myspace.com/queenofswordssound since their birth and has recently been joined by Ben. Pretty soon we'll all be playing with them.

Ben has recently joined Mothlite http://www.myspace.com/mothlite and has already played with them supporting Ulver at the Queen Elizabeth Hall and will be playing with them on the Isis tour this month. He continues to play with Armed Response Unit.

We'll get the album out as soon as we can. It's going to be extremely good, and if the demos were good enough for public consumption I'd post snippets of them. But they're not.

Saturnalia Temple is very pleased to communicate that we have signed in astral blood with The Ajna Offensive (Bobby Beausoleil, Watain, Deathspell Omega etc) for the American release of our first full length album!

We are currently creating our own studio in the Swedish forests, in an old vicarage from the mid 19th century. This is where all ST material will be recorded from now on, only our own deranged equipment and Tommie at the helm of production.

This will allow us for the first time to really record in an actual consecrated temple, rather than our old rehearsal room. This will come through in the album.

We are currently gathering the energies and will begin the first recordings as the snow arrives. We plan to emerge out of this black tunnel as the sun gets warmer. Release date is yet to come, but keep an eye out summer/autumn 2010.

European label is not confirmed at this stage.
