Once again engineered by Kurt Ballou at Godcity Studios, "Seizures In Barren Praise" shows Trap Them at their most vicious. Having mastered their art of aural bludgeoning, the album musically rips, stomps, and claws forth with rabid emotion. All of this a fitting backdrop to Ryan Mckenney's lyrical stories of depression and pain.

"Barren Praise" is a fictional ghost town version of every non-fiction town" says McKenney. "Lyrically, previous Trap Them releases are all stories from people who had lived in "Barren Praise" before deciding to up and leave. This is the story of those who stayed behind to tell the stories of watching everything unfold..." states McKenney.

Upon listening, it's hard not to picture fragments of your own life as part of the chaotic debris that are these fictional lives. The friends, family, and faces of those that make up the ensemble cast of your own life are all there, indirectly. Making "Seizures In Barren Praise" a broken mirror into their world and your own, exposing every fear, weakness, and wound. All of it set to one of the heaviest and most punishing metallic soundtracks, ever.

Relapse Records is proud to announce the signing of Geneva, Switzerland's MUMAKIL.


MUMAKIL are currently writing the follow-up album to their debut full-length Customized Warfare. MUMAKIL's Sebastien Schacher says of the signing and new album; "We're all really excited here since the signature with Relapse Records. This means a lot of work for us. We are really motivated in recording the most brutal grind CD we're able to. We'll start the recording in the end of August / early September 2008, in Geneva, and will work full-time on it. Our guitarist (Jerome Pellegrini) will carry about all the recording and mixing, and we'll do the mastering in Sweden, at Cutting Room studios."

MUMAKIL also have a number of shows lined up including a performance at the 'Grind The Nazi Scum' Festival in Torgau, Germany this weekend. A listing of confirmed dates and cities can be found below with more to be announced soon.

In addition to Customized Warfare, MUMAKIL has also released a number of split releases including a split with now label-mates MISERY INDEX, a split with INHUME that was released as part of the Relapse Records Slimewave Series, and an upcoming split with BLOCKHEADS coming via Bones Brigade. Evoken a écrit:We have just completed our version of "Yet the Watchers Guard" for the upcoming Thergothon tribute on Solitude Productions. We think it is a respectable and authentic tribute to the kings of Lovecraftian DOOM!!!!!

We will also be entering the studio this weekend to begin recording a 4 song (3 songs/outro) split CD with Swedish heavyweights Beneath the Frozen Soil. This will be released by I Hate Records. Details are still mostly unclear as of this moment, however more will be posted as soon as I receive it....including the titles, time lengths, release date as well as other important news.

And this is a totally different piece of music than the LP version of Paso that came out in the early part of this decade (which was itself just recently reissued on vinyl), connected somewhat by some thematic riffs and lyrics, but otherwise structured quite differently, and MUCH heavier/less ambient than the reworked music that was on the vinyl.

Our lawsuit is finally coming to a close. It has been a hard year, and we could not have done it without the support of the metal community world wide and the time and money people donated to our cause. We are eternally in your debt. Sadly, the lawsuit came with a high cost to us personally and interpersonally. Scott Headrick is quitting the band and moving. Mike S felt he needed to back off from touring due to family and work/lack of work issues, cutting his touring commitment from 60-70 shows a year to a handful of shows, mostly local to the West Coast, for an indefinite amount of time, maybe permanently. This extreme change in direction, coupled with the immense stress of our lawsuit and inner conflicts in the band resulted in Scott's decision to move on with his life. Scott Headrick is the highest caliber of person. We mourn his loss, and support his need to take care of himself. We are very sad to share this news about Age Eternal, but are confident that it must and will open the doors for new music creation and growth. Will Lindsay and Mike S will continue to write music with the goal of recording and doing some shows, under another name, as a new band and not Age Eternal. And with Will’s now full-time commitment playing guitar with the immaculate Wolves In The Throneroom, people should be expecting to see him in their hometown in the USA and abroad very soon. News regarding the reformation of YOB, including a small number of shows and a new recording, shall be announced officially soon. Once again, we cannot thank the metal community and people who donated their money and time enough. From the trials and ordeals that had befallen Mike Scheidt (with lawsuits regarding a specific former band name), to resurrect the beast known as YOB was the only natural thing to do. It's been no secret that YOB is once again active, and in turn, Profound Lore will indeed be releasing the next YOB full-length album.

Over the years, Eugene Oregon's YOB has amassed a reputation within doom metal as one of the mightiest, unique and most respected doom metal acts of our time. With experience on bigger labels such as Candlelight and Metal Blade by releasing some of the most crushing and downright gargantuan-like doom to ever seethe from the cracks of the earth, YOB is currently preparing its long-awaited awake from the slumber by writing new material that, according to Scheidt, will be the heaviest and most epic (and naturally best) YOB material to date.

As the stress of the lawsuit regarding Scheidt's former band was coming to its untimely end, Scheidt was meddling around with ideas for some new music (that was even going to go under a different moniker at first). He then came in contact with drummer Travis Foster and when both decided to start jamming again, the decision was cordially made to bring YOB back to life.

Now joined by new bass player Aaron Reiseberg, YOB is in writing mode for its monolithic comeback effort, to be released sometime in the first half of 2009.
